Bugg has been in Malibu working with Rick Rubin and Iain Archer, and has had some interactions with Chad Smith from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, working on the drums to some of his songs, including the single "Broken". On 8 September 2013 Jake Bugg tweeted the following "2nd album done! Hope you're all well!" On September 23, 2013, Jake Bugg announced his new album, Shangri La, along with a new single, "What Doesn't Kill You." Shangri La will be released on November 18, 2013.

Bugg 在开始制作《Shangri-La》前曾说他没有能力再写庄园还有诺丁汉的故事，现在他已经在全世界巡回卖了上万张的唱片，当然以专辑整体来说 Bugg 没说错，但是「Messed Up Kids」确实重回起初让 Bugg 引人注目的社会现实主义。讲到一个毒品药头 Johnny 及无家可归的女孩 Jenny ，这首歌也证明 Bugg 有谱写振奋人心诗歌的能力，也让人不禁联想他这几个月是不是听了很多 Oasis 跟 Don McLean。

Jake Bugg 无疑的最擅长包装优美旋律结构与歌词的快歌，然而「A Song About Love」看到 Bugg 在抒情民谣能力的提升，以往他的声音驾驭这种高昂的歌曲会有些吃力，很高兴看到他开始尝试如此有挑战性与野心的曲目。

今年初 Bugg 谈到他和 Nashville 的音乐人合作发现他们渐渐怠惰令人有点失望，「他们向我展示一些早已写好的作品，根本不在乎我想要的。我只好说：『不了，朋友，让我们拿出吉他来看看会发生什麽事吧。』那真的很令人失望。」不幸的这首歌可能是在 Bugg 重新建立起信心与希望前录制的，大量被遗忘的蓝调结构，不得不说这是专辑中质量较低的一首歌。

用每一个蓝调 riff 及 R&B 连结像是 The Stripes 那种60年代的偶像，Kingpin 是 Bugg 带来的经典烟火秀，也是演唱会大家的爱歌之一。

一首慢慢建构的吵杂合唱和生气的咆哮，迷幻的吉他让 Bugg 更接近 Richard Ashcroft 那种诗人般的冒险，「Simple Pleasure」为专辑增添新纹理让音乐多了分现代感而不是从其它地方找回的复古素材。

专辑中的最终乐章回到最亲密的风格像是Bugg 对《Shangri-La》轻柔的 kiss goodbye，如同「Pine Trees」一样更贴近 Bugg 的灵魂，就像我们在他房间里看着他得到这些灵感写下曲词。

Jake Bugg is set to release his second album 'Shangri La' later this year.
Still in his teens, Jake Bugg has already notched up a UK number one. The Nottingham artist's self-titled debut album topped the charts, producing hit singles such as 'Lightning Bolt' in the process.
Wasting no time, the singer went back into the studio earlier this year. Sessions were obviously productive, with Jake Bugg due to release new album 'Shangri La' later this year.
Due for release on November 18th, 'Shangri La' will be trailed by a new single. 'What Doesn't Kill You' boasts Rick Rubin on production, and has a heavier, rock-influenced feel in comparison to the jaunty Mod-pop of his debut.
