Lammendam专辑介绍
In 2003, CARACH ANGREN ("irons jaws") was formed in the southern regions of Limburg (NL). Two members of black/thrash metalband Vaultage gathered behind the scenes of the band to share their passion for legends and black metal through music. Their black metal won and the curtain fell for Vaultage. And so, CARACH ANGREN is ready for bigger steps.
The band chose a classical, storytelling approach in the broad genre. Symphonic arrangements on keys characterize the band's sound. Why? Because this element is the perfect underscore to the storytelling element. No separate songs, but a complete concept was worked out on "The Chase Vault Tragedy". The Chase-vault is a family vault on the island Barbados, that was built in the 17th century. Each time a burial was added, people found the older graves disordered and disturbed. There has been an investigation, but there were no clues leading to any logical cause. This led to speculations on possible paranormal causes. CARACH ANGREN picked up on this story and, in their unique way, brought it to life through lyrics and music.
The fascination for the paranormal resurfaces on the following release "Ethereal Veiled Existence". A remarkable story told in 5 songs. The strange occurrences around one of the most spectacular photographs were the basis for "Ethereal Veiled Existence". This photo portrays a true ghost, named 'The Brown Lady', situated on a stairway in the Raynham Hall in Norfolk (England). This photo is said to be the irrefutable evidence of a ghost residing in Raynham Hall. In addition, there are several statements underlining this fact known from visitors of Raynham Hall, long before the photo was taken in 1936.
With the two self-released EP's on their résumé it was time to bring the legends to life on stage... not merely by the theatrical atmosphere, but for an important part by some old-fashioned thrash metal. Yes, there's the dark clothing and characteristic make-up, but CARACH ANGREN does not omit the incredibly tight metal for some good old headbanging.
In early 2007, CARACH ANGREN haunt the halls of MADDENING MEDIA who hereby decide to grant abode to the dutch wraiths in order to be enchanted and not to be cursed.
The recording for their upcoming bedevilment "Lammendam" was done in July/August and November 2007. The finishing touch was added in January 2008.
The mystically entitled album “Lammendam” tells the legend of “de lammendam”, the saga around the ghost of a lady in a white dress. Carach Angren set the eye-witnessed myth to sound in way the listener feels cold chill crawling down his back. “Lammendam” is definitely not suitable for the faint-hearted: opulently symphonic highest-speed songs generate a unique and gloomily tense atmosphere from which the listener cannot elude.
