Hey Everyone专辑介绍
The album is brilliant. It is about half a collection of all their recent 7 inches re-recorded, and then half new material. If you're a fan of the earlier release of songs like Chrome Rainbow or Some Dresses, then it might take a little getting used to.
I think they had some personnel changes at the singer post between the two recordings of Some Dresses, but most of the new versions are only different with regards to mixing. The main single - Black Wax - is epically brilliant as a pop song. Some Dresses, Pink Sabbath, Hey James also work as indie-pop.
But the real trick to this band is its fluid movement in and out of pop, metal, hardcore, and indie music (they've called it "fight pop" in a typically tongue-in-cheek manner). At any time in one of their songs you could be moving from a really sweet and gentle guitar hook, and then suddenly be assaulted by massive walls of metal guitars and screaming. It almost always works. Chrome Rainbow is especially good and can get you nodding your head one minute, while in the next minute you want to jump up and down flailing your limbs.
The only negative for me was that the complete version of Infinity Milk was way harder than I expected (they released a 50 second snippet of it on their Sissy Hits EP). I also kinda wished that they had put One After One and Cleaning Each Other on the album. But you can get that on their Sissy Hits EP, which I definitely recommend.
Overall, a unique band with a lot of good energy. Aside from the album there is a definite ethic of fun that seems to be at the heart of the band, and they all seem to be genuinely nice and cool people, with an emphasis on genuine. I look forward to more albums and I hope they tour the U.S. soon because I hear their live shows are pure fun. If you look them up on Youtube you can find concert video of the two singers running through the audience as they're singing, and organizing the audience into a giant group hug. Also, one of their singers doubles up as one of their two drummers. That's right, two drummers and two singers. The drummer/singer transitions mid song from drums to mic and also manages to run into the audience and glad hand people. It's pretty insane!
