A Clear Perception专辑介绍
'A Clear Perception' is the debut album from Hertfordshire rock-your-socks-off band The Eyes Of A Traitor (stereotypical name, I know, but don't give up on them yet...). The thing with music of this particular persuasion is that it's usually, well, shit. Surely has to be one of the most renowned genres for bands that all sound incredibly like each other masked by distortion and don't help the music to take a step forward. And yes, The Eyes Of A Traitor DO frequently display traits of this but it's hard to care when the music is just so good. In my opinion, the key to great metal music is to pay attention to the rhythm, because otherwise your Dad is right - it does just sound like noise, and The Eyes OF A Traitor have this bang on. Album opener 'Under Siege' does a great job of setting the benchmark for the rest of the record and also does well on the rhythmic side of things upon displaying numerous grooves and beats that all add an awful lot to the overall texture and variation of the track. 'Like Clockwork' is my favourite of the tracks because it simply runs, well, like clockwork. The techy' SikThy' intro, the intricate staccato
stabs that pierce through the wall of distortion at a couple of points in the track and the sheer guts of the music really come through on record (which can often be hard to achieve) and make this a great track. If this type of music is your bag, then be sure to check out 'Escape These Walls' - a fast flowing spiralling monster of a track that essentially leaves room to breathe with very small, but effective gaps in the sound. This is strong evidence of the thought and effort that the band have put into this material.
Album closer and title track 'A Clear Perception' nicely does the job and little more, upon offering an almost reflective and uplifting look back at the last forty minutes of music, perfectly setting the scene and gives the listener an opportunity to realise what a great record this is. Perhaps a little unvaried and a bit too full-on for a mentally stable person to listen to from start to finish, but how many people
actually consume music in this fashion these days anyway? If metal isn't your thing, then surprise surprise, you will definitely hate this album, but if you like a bit of the black stuff or have recently lost your job and caused in excess of -200 worth of damage to a car then The Eyes Of A Traitor's 'A
Clear Perception' is well worth buying.
