This compilation conceived and curated by Daryl Smith from UK punk legends Cock Sparrer who did a series of shows with Rancid in 2012 as a joint 20 year (Rancid) / 40 year (Cock Sparrer) anniversary.
"This album existed in my head long before it ever stood the chance of becoming a release you could buy. I’ve lost count of the amount of times that I’ve burnt CDs to listen to in the car with just the Rancid Ska tracks on. With the advent of iTunes and playlists, it made life a lot easier as each time I lost the CD I’d just burn a new one and each time a sharpie would come out and I’d give my home compiled CD a new name.
I could be driving around listening to “Hooligans & Rudeboys” or giving “Radio Ska” a spin. Months later forgetting the name I’d given to my last compilation I’d make a new one and “Roots, Boots and Offbeats” would be the latest Rancid Ska album in my collection having just replaced the “Lars Is A Cunt Comp”." - Daryl Smith, Cock Sparrer
