Intig is an international band which includes members from Sweden, Denmark, and America. They are about to release their first album entitled, “Empty”. Intig creates a mixture between depressive black metal and post rock elements. They strive to create a floating, atmospheric and sometimes aggressive soundscape. Their sound is inspired by people’s everyday struggle with life. The band was formed by Andreas Rönnberg. The three members consist of Andreas playing the instruments and composing the music. He also contributes to the vocals. Ken Klejs is on drums and Jordan Jimenez is the lead vocalist.
“Empty” features eight sullen tracks of utter depression. It gives of a feeling of loss, regret and failure. Often the songs are rather tranquil sounding in approach. The vocals are not always the typical raspy “black metal” kind. Instead, they are clean and shaky. A voice of desperation. They’re still quite extreme, to put it that way. You will also hear some traditional black metal screams that are similar to early Burzum in style.
I’ll say this about Intig, I can’t readily compare them to any other bands. It seems original. Maybe they’re influenced by Lifelover, but I couldn’t say since I’m not familiar with that bands music. It sounds original to me.There is one track that sounds familiar thought. The opening and closing guitar part to “Worthless Being” reminds me of a song by Drowning the Light. I’d have to listen to the album again to say exactly what song I’m thinking about but it’s something off of “An Alignment of Dead Stars”.
As Blakkheim said so long ago, “A perfect soundtrack to the coming autumn”. Actually, Autumn is already here, so check out Intig for some true audial depression.
