Previous to The Amazing California Health and Happiness Road Show, the Mermen has already proved themselves through live shows and recordings to be a well worth experiencing, highly amplified psychedelic surf band. Here the tide brings in much more to take in. This opus from the instrumental trio is much more introspective and trippy. While still retaining a distinctive Californian vibe, this album is much more progressive than any that preceded it. This mix of sitar, slow psychedelic, and deep space blues summons the vision of Pacific Ocean swells, containing a fantasy of exotic sea creatures.
