Bulerias
This fast, rhythmically syncopated music of the
southern Spanish cities of Cadiz and Jerez has the
rhythmic structure of soleares.
Bulerias can be played in a variety of keys, such as A
major, E minor, etc. This example is played in the key
of D minor using the Phrygian mode. This bulerias has
a size of 3/8. As in soleares, its compas consists of
four bars (that is, it has 12 beats). The 3rd, 6th, 8th,
10th and 12th shares are emphasized. In the case of a
bulerias, the score starts from the 12th beat.
