McCartney sings the lead vocal on this one, and 
Lennon sings the choruses.  It is the only occurrence 
in a Beatles song where the identity of the songwriter is 
not who the lead vocalist is.  This doesn't count 
Ringo's songs.  

I'd also like to add that Lennon was inspired to write 
"Day Tripper" by The Rolling Stones' singles at the 
time, that contained "instrumental hook-lines."
