原声带同时收录由「捍卫战警」、「狙击生死线」的电影音乐家Mark Mancina所打造的原创音乐与多首当代艺人的精采唱作,像是5座葛莱美奖得主John Legend的都会灵魂乐作品"Someday",加州摇滚乐团Five For Fighting创作核心John Ondrasik的真情之歌"King Of The Earth",还有葛莱美奖小号天才Chris Botti细腻诠释"Moondance"以及他与葛莱美奖女歌手Paula Cole携手演绎的不朽名曲"God Bless The Child"。

The soundtrack to August Rush, a movie about a young boy orphaned by his musically gifted parents, has become a bestseller. Although it helps to have seen (and enjoyed) the movie, in many ways the music on the soundtrack stands on its own. Be sure to check out Jonathan Rhys Meyers "This Time" and John Ondrasiks "King Of The Earth".

"August Rush - Music from the Motion Picture" premieres a range of extraordinary new music including two original songs penned by Five For Fighting's John Ondrasik ("King of the Earth," performed by Ondrasik, and "Break," performed by Jonathan Rhys Meyers with Ondrasik on piano); a brand new cut ("Someday") from R&B pop master John Legend; two transcendent performances from female guitar virtuoso Kaki King ("Bari Improv," "Ritual Dance"); and four revelatory tracks including "Break," "This Time," "Moondance," and "Something Inside" sung by Jonathan Rhys Meyers (the Golden Globe winning actor has sterling musical credentials, having sung his own parts as a David Bowie-inspired glam-rock star in Todd Haynes' "Velvet Goldmine" as well as his current role as a charismatic Irish guitarist and singer in "August Rush").

The album also includes a variety of cover performances including Chris Botti & Paula Cole's interpretation of Billie Holiday's "God Bless The Child," Leon Thomas III's reinvention of the traditional Mexican folk tune "La Bamba" (which became a signature hit for the late Ritchie Valens in 1958), and Rhys Meyers' take on Van Morrison's "Moondance" (also covered by Chris Botti as a bonus track on the album).

Amazon.com Editorial Reviews:

Who knew Jonathan Rhys Meyers had such an aching, lovely croon? In August Rush, he supplies his own vocals in the role of an Irish indie-rock singer, and it's a testament to his skill that he doesn't embarrass himself on Van Morrison's "Moondance." (He's even better on Lucas Reynolds' "Something Inside.") This is fairly representative of this CD's flavor: thoughtful, adult but not bland--typically, you hear a lot of cello throughout.
John Ondrasik, stepping out from his Five for Fighting persona, wrote new material, though the best song, "King of the Earth," is an unreleased one by his main project that boasts superb, elegant production by Bill Bottrell. Intriguingly, guitar virtuoso Kaki King is the hand double for Freddie Highmore, who plays the film's child prodigy. Her two instrumentals, "Bari Improv" and "Ritual Dance," are treats for lovers of inventive acoustic playing, who should also enjoy the self-explanatory "Dueling Guitars." John Legend sounds aching on "Someday," though the cover of "God Bless the Child," by Chris Botti and Paula Cole, feels a little lite. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
